Thursday Practice at Thunderhill

Friday —

Yesterday was a beautiful California day, everything went well during practice. We used the red "extra" mustang and the two race cars.

Andy went shopping and you can see the result. You can tell we aren't going hungry. It's amazing how he can whip up a gourmet meal for 30, with limited tools and space.

This morning the track has really filled up, the haulers and motorhomes are wedged in with only inches in between. At last count there were 75 cars entered—by my calculations that means about 300 drivers and hundreds of crew members.

We made it to Thunderhill Race Park (Willows, CA) yesterday in big style, thanks to Keith and his toter-home. Dan drove the whole way and Keith brought his brother-in-law along to work as our chef. We actually had time to go out for dinner last night after moving in and starting the set-up process.

Today we practice and finish setting up. The 99 car looks great, Erich did the graphics. We have two cars in the race, and another to use in practice. Ford also brought along a show car, for a total of four cars, and about 30 people.

My 3rd Trip to The Dominican Republic

My time in the DR is almost over. In case you didn't know, my sister and her husband are here running the CURE International hospital. He's an orthopedic surgeon and they care for kids in the DR and Haiti. I developed a FileMaker database for them, to help them leave their piles of paper behind, and hopefully to enable them to spend more time on patients like this guy. Today I took a quick break to go upstairs and see the ward. It's really impressive work, and so life-changing. This trip I didn't get out in the very poor rural areas with Scott, but I did spend 3 fabulous days at the beach in Cabarete with Marni and family. I never seem to get there when it's windy, so I didn't get the chance to windsurf, but there's always next time!
